When I was a young boy, my Mom said I could play in the back yard. I climbed a tree and saw the vast expanse beyond our fences, places I dreamed of exploring from the back seat of our car. When Mom found me in a neighbor's front yard on a grand adventure, she demanded to know how I got there. I said through our gate. She very clearly said I could not leave the back yard through the gate again. A couple days later she found me joyously wandering the neighborhood again and scolded me for going through the gate again, to which I said, "I didn't go through the gate. I climbed over it." As a teenager in Southern California, an Army Soldier, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Coach, Surfer and Missionary, I love to adventure beyond my current limits and help others do so also.
